For over 30 years the Novato Youth Center has offered quality, innovative programs. As an organization, we are committed to nurture, protect and educate our youth, while responding to the ever-changing needs of our community. Currently we serve 3,600 youth and families of all income levels annually in Novato and 17 surrounding cities throughout Marin, Sonoma & Solano.
NYC is a non-profit organization that relies on donations and other revenue sources. The agency is led by experienced professionals and community members you can trust. We provide a full range of childcare and parent support services: childcare from infancy to age 14; Novato summer camps for ages 5 through 14; tutoring for all ages; licensed family counseling; parenting programs; outreach to the diverse cultural families of our community, and scholarships and encouragement for families seeking self-sufficiency. NYC Secures Pledge for 7 Years of Childcare for Melody Osheroff's Younger Sister
In honor of Melody Osheroff, recent victim of a fatal accident on May 28, 2009, a Novato Youth Center long-time donor pledged to pay for childcare fees for Melody's sister Melissa through 8th grade. Melissa is currently a 1st grader enrolled in NYC's School Aged Childcare Program.
Melody came to us as an infant in 2000, and has grown with us at the NYC for all 9 years of her life. She was always joyful, bright and adventurous, as is her 7 year old sister, Melissa. NYC teachers have watched Melody evolve into a smart and caring 4th grader and a wonderful big sister, with exceptionally involved and caring parents. Some of Melody's fellow participants at the NYC had these things to say about her, "She was smart and kind; thoughtful; a nice friend; she helped me with my homework." We are extremely saddened that Melody's life has been cut so short and our hearts goes out to her family. We are fortunate to have a full counseling staff at the NYC, who will be providing support to all NYC children and staff as needed during this difficult time, and we are extending the same support to Melody's family members. The NYC is grateful to have the opportunity to provide financial relief to the Osheroff Family during this difficult time.
A memorial fund has been established for Melody's family. Donations can be made to "The Osheroff Family Fund," c/o Wells Fargo Bank, 1590 Grant Ave., Novato, CA 94945.
