Our History

1966:The dream for a safe haven for Novato’s youth began and for ten years community volunteers worked on fundraising and construction to make this dream a reality.
1976: This grassroots organization opened as the Novato Boys Club and served 250 youth.
1983: Renamed to the Novato Youth Center, launched the first licensed School-Age Childcare Program in Marin County.
1988: Launched Youth and Family Counseling Program.
1990: Expanded the facility to 14,000 to 23,000 square feet.
Launched various programs throughout the years:
1996: Infant and Preschool Programs
1999:Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program
2003: Parent Project Program
2004: Novato School Readiness Program
2006: Novato Wellness Center
2007: Parent-Child Interaction Therapy
2009: Health Education
2010: New 3-year strategic plan and mission launched.
Today the agency will serve over 4,200 youth and their families.
The Novato Youth Center has grown 250% in the last 10 years alone.
